Faculty & Researchers

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has long been a hub for the creation of open source projects. Our faculty members have spent years contributing to the practice, and our investment in on-campus projects ensures further discoveries for years to come. The Open Source Program Office is a hub for the facilitation of new research. From our Open Awards to our intern program, we are looking to match researchers with open source experiences on campus.

OSPO’s support has greatly helped our project move forward, in terms of scalability and being “production ready.” Programs like this give students invaluable experience with code review and professional engineering practices while greatly advancing open-source projects.”

OSPO has two main channels for recognizing contributions made by faculty: the internship program and the Open Awards. The internship program allows faculty to submit a project proposal. If the proposal is selected, a paid student intern will be assigned to support on the project. The Open Awards ensure there is recognition for major open source advancements on campus. Information on both channels can be found down below.
