SPECTRAX

Project Description

The SPECTRAX team intends to model the plasma turbulence seen in astrophysical plasma systems, such as the Sun and intergalactic media. Using the open-source code SPECTRAX, the team intends to show that shocks and three-dimensional magnetic reconnection can be modelled using Python-based software such as JAX and DIFFRAX. The goal is to generate differentiable plasma physics simulations that can be used in active research.

Interns help with the parallelization of SPECTRAX on multiple GPUs, its dissemination to the community by helping draft a SPECTRAX website, and running massively parallelized simulations.
