RSEM
Project Description
Estimating gene expression levels from RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data is a widely used application of high throughput sequencing technology. RSEM (RNA-Seq by Expectation Maximization) is a gold-standard methodology and software for this estimation, cited over 23,000 times and used in major consortia projects.
The RSEM software is in need of maintenance to keep it compatible with current libraries and compilable across platforms. Interns contribute by updating the code, creating automated test suites, and porting current Perl front-end scripts to Python.
