ESSOS

Project Description

The ESSOS team intends to design the next generation of fusion energy devices. Using the open-source code ESSOS, we intend to show that both coil optimization and magnetic field optimization can be performed using python-based software such as JAX and DIFFRAX. The goal is to generate simplified coils and equilibria able to confine alpha particles stemming from fusion reactions.

Interns on the ESSOS team help to integrate all of the core modules of ESSOS into abstract classes in order to simplify the optimization procedure. Furthermore, interns help find more efficient optimization strategies to find better performing fusion devices.
