Promoting Open Access to Scholarly Research

Project leader:

Morton Ann Gernsbacher, (magernsb@wisc.edu)

Project description:

The Gernsbacher Lab is an international and local (inaugural Hall of Fame member for Open Source at UW-Madison) leader in promoting open access of scholarly research, including publications, research materials, data sets, data analyses. and – a unique contribution – self-audits of citation accuracy. The intern will be involved in each step of producing and promoting open access to scholarly research.

The tasks that the intern will be responsible for all involve preparing several sets of code, data, research methods, and research materials for distribution, modification, and repurposing. Each task for each set of code, data, methods, and materials will result in a product. The goal is to make all of these products, as mentioned above, available for distribution and modification and to provide all products with the most permissive open source licensing.

Intern needs:

All skills and platforms (e.g., PubMed Central, OSF, the university’s OA repository, Figshare, arXiv, PsyArXiv) can be acquired during the internship. Reliability and responsibility; curiosity and willingness to learn; attention to detail; communication skills; adaptability and openness to feedback will be important traits for the intern to have or develop.

Application Requirements:
